School of recognition:
A subset of schools classified as not requiring assistance or intervention are recognized for their academic accomplishments. Schools of recognition are identified for high achievement, high growth, and exceeding targets.

Dear South Community Members,

It is my pleasure to announce that South Elementary School has met all of our targets on MCAS in Literacy, Math, and Science in 2018. South's accountability ranking percentile is 83. We rank in the 83rd percentile among schools similar in testing status (grade level, demographics, computer-based testing). In addition, South Elementary had a 93% progress toward our improvement targets which means we exceeded most of our targets. South is categorized among the 31% of the schools in Massachusetts identified as "meeting targets."

It is my honor to announce that South Elementary School is one of 52 schools (all levels) across the whole state to receive the label of “School of Recognition” for high growth and exceeding our targets (see attached). This is an unique and great honor!

I am so proud of our students, teachers, parents, faculty and staff, district personnel and School Committee, and South community members who all worked so hard to make South Elementary a great school!!! Thank you everyone for your support and now it is time to get back to work so we can reach the 90th percentile!!!!!
